About this deal

About the same time as the southern Australia sightings, in May 1947, on the other side of the planet in Washington DC, Rear Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter was settling into his new job as the Director of Central Intelligence, which later that year became the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). And when strange things start happening to her new neighbors, Ivy's snooping sense kicks into overdrive. These events also all happened just before a sighting event in New Mexico, USA, that, for many, is the origin myth of the great modern extra-terrestrial conspiracy theory – Roswell. There are many plot holes, little character development, the boys at the camp talk like they're 10, not 17, and the plot feels like something we've all read many times before. She clearly remembers the two military policemen first came to the family home, so she directed them to Annie’s workplace, where her colleagues watched her being escorted away.

Dodwell told the paper, ‘The phenomenon did not fit in with anything astronomical and was a complete mystery to him’ and also, ‘This seems to correspond with real objects and not with a mirage reflection. One of the privileges of being an investigative journalist is the opportunity to use the skillset to indulge a curiosity – to go down the rabbit hole of a mystery, to work the sources, to delve through the documents, and to reach conclusions based on the evidence. Stories of recovered alien bodies, reverse-engineered spacecraft, end-of-life confessions from military personnel, dubious physical evidence and an assortment of people who "know what I saw". In the first part of this book, the author goes through a large number of reported UAP (Unexplained Aerial Phenomena, the term he prefers to UFO) sightings; these come so thick and fast that it seems he wants to convince the sceptical by the sheer frequency of the sightings. In my opinion, by answering the question of “are we alone on planet earth”, we then open the doors to the possibility of engaging with and answering the other existential questions “is there life after death”, “is there a God”.It often appears to be intelligently controlled, presenting to those who recorded it on video and tracked it on radar as a ‘craft’ of some kind. He also offers an "estimated" speed of 104,895 mph for a UAP, believing, as many non-scientists do, that you can convince by the accuracy of your numbers, without realising that this undermines the whole concept of an "estimate". Bomber pilots over Europe regularly reported wingless and tailless glowing objects tracking their aircraft, ‘that could turn on a dime’. Annie squeezed in between the two men on the bench seat of their four-wheel Toyota drive security vehicle and the three set off for town. The Americans clearly had no idea what to do with an uncooperative Australian local and, eventually, they took her home.

The US never stopped investigating this, and other governments like Australia deliver information but are told to keep quiet about it. Recent discoveries in the fields of physics and astronomy show, not only that we still know very little when it comes to gravity, spacetime, dark matter, dark energy and the vacuum of space. At this point, there are so many claims and counter-claims that it is best to step back, stay sceptical and watch this apparent struggle within the US government unfold. In 2020, however, after decades of denial, the US Department of Defence made the astonishing admission that strange aerial and underwater objects frequently reported and videoed by pilots and tracked by sensors are real, unexplained, and pose a genuine national security concern. I once reported a story in the Gulf of Carpentaria in Far North Queensland, interviewing a venerable Aboriginal elder known as Blue Bob, who knew the landscape like the back of his hand.

His account corroborated another made earlier by workmen at Port Augusta, 260 kilometres north-east, who also reported seeing five white egg-shaped objects flying in formation from north to south.Throughout the Second World War and during the late 1940s, many Second World War aviators over Europe or in the Pacific theatre reported seeing luminous discs or spheres known as Foo Fighters. I spend my free time reading great books, road tripping, and looking for cool things with my dog Levi.

This would also explain why the shapes of the UAPs are comparable to the ones that were seen decades ago. But when the number of sightings starts going up into the thousands, often by trained personnel, then clearly something strange is going on. While the book still leaves us with more questions than answers, it does, again, point to a few elitist, military industrialists and privileged folk keeping this knowledge under wraps, thereby holding back the human race, and our children from technological, scientific, spiritual (consciousness) and philosophical advancements.

He said that, after a series of ‘bright flashes’, he saw ‘a dull grey-white airship coming towards me.
