About this deal

Miriam knows that just because Laura is witnessed leaving the scene of a horrific murder with blood on her clothes, that doesn't mean she's a killer. International bestselling author Paula Hawkins may always be best-known for her record-shattering debut, The Girl on the Train. Hawkins liked this area because both wealthy and poor are living amongst each other in an unusual setting.

Published in over fifty languages, it has been a Number 1 bestseller around the world and was a box office hit film starring Emily Blunt. The detective was nodding again, noting all this down, and Miriam felt sure it wouldn't take him long to figure out exactly who she was talking about. The three women’s back stories are shared in flashbacks while their lives intersect as the novel builds toward its climax. The lives of the women was the interesting part of the story but again it didn’t offer anything particularly new and exciting.Laura was in a horrific accident when she was ten years old and has been left with significant injuries, including some social issues where she cannot control herself or act appropriately at times. Paula's second thriller, Into the Water , and her latest book, A Slow Fire Burning , were also instant Number 1 bestsellers.

One highlight is that the audio version I listened to was impeccably narrated by the brilliant actress Rosumund Pike. This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021 (this book as well as Survive The Night) so my hopes were HIGH.I disagree; Hawkins tells her tale so thoroughly that the pieces are obvious and careful readers will know who did it and why. Fortunately for Daniel, there is a noisy neighbor Miriam who takes detailed records of all of the comings and goings. The towpath was still, the roads up above quiet too, no sounds save for the throb of a generator, the squabble of moorhens ghosting gently past.
