About this deal

The way that this book and story felt so real, yet navigated difficult and heart wrenching topics was so beautifully done.

I think I was weepy for the whole second half of the book for both pure love struck moments in the romance and moments my heart broke for both Emma and Justin for the cards they’ve been dealt. Also, if you really think about it, it makes no sense Emma would give up Hawaii for Minnesota (this felt like a crime) to break the relationship curse when her entire "thing" is she's constantly on the move and refuses to settle down. One of friendship, forgiveness, healing, and the life changing realization that you ARE worthy of love! I should have know better than to start this after noon, because now it’s 1:30am and I’m gonna have to go get an ice pack for my puffy eyes and a new box of Kleenex for those weird post-sob little hiccups of more sobbing. She delivered another top tier romance yet again and I also just added another book boyfriend to the roster! Just One Summer is a 2012 Filipino romance- drama film directed by Mac Alejandre, starring Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona. Abby Jimenez is a Food Network winner, New York Times best selling author, and recipient of the 2022 Minnesota Book Award for her novel Life's Too Short.

I was so engrossed in the storyline, which is thoroughly heart-warming, that I r ead the entire book without stopping. Abby has this beautiful way of crafting romance with grief and heavy hearts that still brings you hope and joy. When Kate Harris accepts a redecorating job of her brother Aidan’s house in the picturesque town of Willowbury, she knows it’s just a stop gap. Traveling nurse Emma spots the reddit thread and finds it instantly relatable, because she experiences the same curse. So said grandkids pretend to date to get their grandmas off their back while they work on other stuff. While this wasn't my favorite Jiminez book, I found it to be a compulsive page-turner and immediately connected to the characters. As all fans of Abby know, we can count on her books for A+ banter and comedic relief and JFTS absolutely delivers in this regard. On a more personal note, I think it’s books like these that remind me why I love the romance genre so much. No spoilies but I did like the conclusion of the book and I found the characters decently flushed out. Abby Jimenez my queen, thank you for writing such real+raw characters and a story that showcases the most vulnerable and intimate moments of two people coming together and falling madly for each other at time they both least expect it.
