About this deal

Now, in Minimalista, Shira shares her complete toolkit for the first time, built around five key steps: Clarify, Edit, Organize, Elevate, and Maintain. There's even a section on how to handle the possessions when someone has passed away which was very helpful to me, as I am still downsizing and decluttering after the loss of my husband. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I think most parents think they are being good parents by giving their kids more toys/entertainment type of things then they need or can take care of and it is overwhelming to the kids. Paring down to the essentials is the most direct route to figuring out who you are and what you truly care about.

Over the past decade, she has helped thousands of people around the world reduce clutter and create more space for what matters.

From providing a user-friendly tool kit on how to curate and maintain a minimalist lifestyle to giving practical guidance for simplifying our living spaces, Minimalista offers a fun, approachable framework for functional minimalism—one that we all need. Guided by the dual principles of editing and organising, Shira aims to help you remove the clutter through a process that promotes sustainability, achieves lasting results and can work for anyone, regardless of their property or space.

Granted I probably wasn’t supposed to just read the whole book in one go, it’s probably designed to be dipped in and out of, but I like to finish a book once I’ve started it. She lectures about it being our responsibility to not give to Goodwill exclusively unless you know for sure that they will accept it (how would we know unless we worked or work there? For this reason, my process (and this book) focuses on transforming one room at a time, one small section at a time.

I read the book on my phone and I think some of the photos and layouts were lost in the digitization process, based on the pics of physical book I've seen online. She has realistic solutions that are very detailed and I love that the book includes writing prompts.

Additionally, the more I worked with people, the more I saw that bigger issues often lurked beneath the clutter—shame, guilt, loss, trauma—and that the process of editing and organizing a home could also be an opportunity to clarify and realign with larger life goals and values. That said, her ‘room by room’ and 15 minutes chunk approaches to decluttering are better for people who find a ‘blitz the entire property in one go’ approach too overwhelming. If you have selected a top with a sticky layer*, remove the sticky layer using a cotton swab soaked in Shea Super Shine Effect Cleaner.

Thanks to its creamy consistency, Minimalista gel polish ensures easy application, minimizes the risk of flooding the cuticles and the formation of streaks. In helping others let go of excess and embrace minimalism, it is not my intention to ignore nor diminish the fact that many people live with less than they need. Rather than imposing strict rules and limitations, Shira redefines minimalism as having the perfect amount of everything - for you - based on your personal values and the limitations of your space. Your belongings are a physical manifestation of your life—your stuff can reveal what you value, what your priorities are, and where you’re stuck or struggling. Also, her style “uniform advice” rubbed me the wrong way…I’m not Obama, I need some flexibility / spontaneity / diversity in my life, thank you very much, even if i have very limited closet space and have to fit it into a capsule collection (for better advice on this front, I recommend Nina Walder in Instagram).
