About this deal

In this collection she will give you moments so intimate and beautifully rendered you will come to know them as your own.

I appreciate Sarah's collection because I definitely got to experience poetry in a different perspective. One aspect that really took my breath away was Kay’s ability to render ideas of her own into intricate details with the significance still intact.I believe that this latter point is a reason that spoken-word poetry has become popular amongst many people are who are not real poetry fans. Sarah Kay is primarily a spoken word poet, so the writing style embraces the sound and rhythm of her poetry, not simply the structural aspects. and within less than 20 minutes I was completely captivated, awed and inspired, and Sarah Kay had herself a new lifelong fan. But I wrote the poem after a pattern had developed in my life that resulted in me having “near-misses” with great tragedies.

I like the challenge of trying to figure out what that room full of people needs or wants on that particular night. If you've ever seen a performance by Sarah Kay you probably realized how much she puts in her poetry.

In 2011, Kay published "B", a short hardcover book containing the titular poem, which was originally written in 2007. I don't own many poetry books, but in my mind, this is poetry that both an expert on poetry and a casual reader can enjoy. What sets No Matter the Wreckage apart is Kay's ability to find magic in the ordinary, painting intimate portraits of unlikely love affairs between objects and exploring whimsical topics. Sarah Kay is a spoken word poet, which means that her poetry is generally presented orally, as opposed to on paper.

Most importantly, the poems themselves are beautifully written, capturing a spectrum of ideas and topics in a really touching, personal fashion. This book is only 130 pages, so it's short to begin with, but I managed to tear through the entire book in less than 12 hours because I just kept wanting to read the next poem and read more of Kay's amazing words. A decade’s worth of writing about family, love, and the importance of “never let[ting] gravity become too familiar. Description: Following the success of her breakout poem, "B," Sarah Kay releases her debut collection of poetry featuring work from the first decade of her career. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, the Tribeca Film Festival, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, the Nantucket Project, the Apollo Theater, the Royal Danish Theatre, among hundreds more.

Here are some of the poems from this collection performed by Sarah: (I highly recommend watching them! I’ll always keep an extra supply of chocolate and rain boots nearby, because there is no heartbreak that chocolate can’t fix.Another being Hand-Me-Downs, shows how we can inherit traits from our family, and it may not always necessarily be a beautiful thing. Reading through the poems (to myself and out loud to family members) I found that I could not quite capture all of the magic that Sarah has when she presents her poems. This collection's transformative helps readers to find a sanctuary of words that uplift your spirit and ignite imagination. The poetry books I have read so far are either lackluster or bland in terms of writing, but this book completely changed my viewpoint on poetry. If you have not seen Sarah Kay perform any of her poems, check her out on YouTube, she's a great performer).
