Although the GoSea Vortex will happily take an adult up to approximately 95kg (approx 14 stone), it is also an excellent sit-on-top option for junior paddlers due to the ease of steering and light manoeuvrability. Taran is a thoroughly nice guy who made us feel welcome and safe the whole time and added some really nice personal touches during the trip. Suddenly I heard a little scream from a young lad on the tour, there were 5 dolphins leaping out of the water playing gracefully in the waves!
I have to say the Vector is a bit quicker through the water but I do like the sitting position on my Vortex. Everything needed was provided, even a low volume kayak as I am a small guy, and our small group were taken to some beautiful islands set in the clear blue waters of Sardinia.If you’re bringing a GoPro, make sure it’s tightly secured — both the GoPro to the accessory, and the accessory to your body. The voyage 2+1 ticks all the right boxes for me, great for all the family to mess about with at the beach, fantastic value for money when compared to other big name boats and it all seems to be well built, I have four kids ranging from 7 to 16 years and they have all given it a hard time yet not a broken seat or mounting point in sight. The current was strong, however, so we kept drifting farther out into sea and had to continuously keep paddling closer to the wave break where our guides were.

The items seem sturdy enough however had issues with the ball bearing for the swing arm, as I placed our kayak on the arms they kept folding on us and eventually the ball bearing came adrift so we had to drill and screw the arms in a locked position. If you prefer using your feet to assist your direction, then our optional Tip-Toes controlled rudder can be fitted for adjusting your course without breaking stroke. Our own tests found that the GoSea Vortex is easy to paddle and extremely manoeuvrable, tracking well in a straight line, with a good amount of glide for this type of kayak.
It feels more exposed to the sea too as beyond it there is nothing but open sea till you reach mainland Italy. We currently run the only tour company in Byron Bay that is Eco Certified and has the ‘Recognising Our Culture’ certification.I have been kayak fishing for 15 years prior to this and this is the 5th kayak I have owned, the last being an Ocean Kayak Malibu 2XL which I rigged to fish solo.
